Improved, Lean and Creative Six Sigma to Solve Real-Life Issues
Thursday, October 30th, 2008Six sigma proves very handful when applied to remove bugs in any system or process. Defects can be detected through VOC or VOS. But there are certain problems which are not possible to be detected through these. If there are delays in any process the solution can be to speed up things but that can ultimately lead to loss of quality. So a systematic approach to this is Lean. Six Sigma can provide you with great solutions because they have proper six sigma training and produce better results. DMAIC method of six sigma relies basically on analyzing the problem and deal with real life issues.
Tools used by Lean in Six Sigma projects.
There are many defects that are based on Lean some are rejects, inventory, over production, movement, over processing and to wait for up coming step. Along with all these it also provides 5S which is value stream mapping and error removing which is when combined with Six Sigma can help to sort out real life problems.
If we take a case of PWB that is printed wiring board, we can see that assembling of these is very tough process and it is quite possible that the end result would not be as desired. So six sigma team should first understand the process and then start moving towards the better solution. Similarly Lean can give long terms solutions for this problem so both can be combined to get improved results.
